Beginning Tuesday, July 18th, we are going to be hosting three weeks of a summer reading group based on the short stories of Flannery O'Connor. As a writer, O'Connor is perhaps best known for her focus on religious themes, southern culture and her penchant for the macabre. She is also not without complication - her writing has rightly been the subject of much scrutiny with respect to issues of racism and violence. Caveat lector!
The reading group will be led by Dr. Jake Stratman, beloved professor of English and Dean of Humanities at John Brown University, and will be hosted at the Mathews home. You can find links to the stories and the reading schedule below. We hope to have you join us!
Week One: Revelation (Read by July 18th)
